The rise of hybrid work has expanded the traditional workspace. While in the past it only meant an office, now a workspace is wherever an employee can focus and get their work done.
Our partners at Zoom recently hosted a webinar where they asked industry experts how an organization can successfully prepare itself for the future of the workspace. Here was some insights gained from the webinar:
Employees need spaces that more closely fit their diverse needs. In order to avoid the inefficient use of meeting spaces, leadership should provide employees with different kinds of meeting rooms. These spaces may look different than the traditional meeting spaces including Individual Spaces (for one-on-one meetings, or spaces where employees can quietly work on presentations or create content), Team Spaces (Where teams can meet, collaborate, and host outside guests), and Common Spaces (A kitchen, a breakroom, a game room, any space designed for informal meetings or work as well as large team events). The ultimate takeaway here is to think outside of the box and ensure that you have a variety of spaces for a variety of needs to match the current and upcoming trends in the workspace.
Additionally, employers need to focus on the remote environment for employees. The office may provide the key tools and environment for success however a hybrid employee may lack some of these features in their home office. It may be in the organization’s best interest to invest in an employee’s home setup including their desk, chair, camera, and lighting solutions. This investment can lead to an increase in productivity as well as a more enhanced presentation experience for any client meeting with your remote employees.
Ultimately, an organization needs to ensure that they have a Unified Communications platform that can handle the main requirements of a hybrid work environment. An Enterprise level UCC solution like Zoom empowers organizations with a streamlined Hot-desking solution and a user interface that provides a device-agnostic streamlined experience and flexibility providing uniform features to all employees regardless of where they’re working.
Every organization should stop and consider how prepared they are for the future of the workspace. As these trends become industry standards, both new and existing employees will begin to expect them.
