Rasool Shabazz, the Manager of Academic Technology Services at NSU, knows all too well the importance of having consistent technology across the campus. “When we began this journey, there wasn’t consistency around campus. Some rooms had projectors, some had VGA ports, others had advanced screens, and some lacked even the basic facilities,” Rasool recalls. This inconsistency posed a significant challenge for both faculty and students. To truly understand the gaps, Rasool personally undertook an extensive audit. “I walked around to every academic building, jotting down room numbers and what tech was present. We wanted consistency across all rooms – from document cams to wireless collaboration.”

But they did, and with flying colors!”

Every room now has a standard technology, facilitating teaching and learning,” Rasool emphasizes. Looking to the future, he is optimistic, “This will allow us to maintain the technology and ensure Norfolk State stays on track with other top institutions.”
